CONTRACTORS ARE REQUIRED TO REGISTER ANNUALLY
In terms of regulation 6(2) of the Electrical Installation Regulations, 2009, any person carrying out electrical installations operating as an electrical contractor is required to register annually with the Chief Inspector of the Department of Labour, or a person appointed by the Chief Inspector. The Chief Inspector has appointed the Electrical Contracting Board of South Africa (ECB) for this purpose. In terms of the regulations, registration is for a 12 month period; please check your renewal date on the online form. Your failure to re-register timeously would result in you operating illegally. You are urged, therefore, to complete the online application form or visit your nearest ECB Office to avoid your registration being delayed.
